Port of LA TerminalsPort of Singapore’s New Terminal – PSA Singapore Terminals is investing $2.85 billion in the development of its Pasir Panjang Terminal at the Port of Singapore. The new terminal will feature an automated container yard, 15 new berths and nearly 19,700 feet of quay draft which will increase the terminals capacity from 35 million TEUs to 50 million TEUs by 2020.

Strike at the Port of San Antonio – A labor dispute has led to a strike at Chile’s Port of San Antonio. The port has been paralyzed for five days and there are talks of other ports joining the strike.

India Signs Shipping Pact with Austria – India and Austria have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The MOU will accelerate cooperation in the development of port infrastructure and maritime security technology.  Implementation of Ship and Port Security codes and use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Codes are included in the potential areas of cooperation.
