Israel, U.S. to Sign Customs Cooperation Agreement – The Israeli Tax Authority’s Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have signed a joint work plan that will bring the two programs closer to a mutual recognition agreement.  This agreement would aid in cross-border communication, coordination and collaboration between government agencies.

Hapag-Lloyd Begins Merger Talks with Hamburg Süd – The German carriers Hapag-Lloyd and Hamburg Süd are in preliminary talks for a merger that would create the fourth largest ocean carrier. Both carriers are reviewing the terms and conditions of a merger.

China Lowers Import Tariffs – Starting January 1st, China will be lowering the tariffs on 784 imported goods in an effort to boost domestic consumption.  Lower tariffs will apply to raw materials and spare parts for equipment manufacturing as well as products related to people’s livelihoods, such as healthcare equipment.
