Port of Auckland LogoTerminal Deepening Project Completed at the Port of Auckland – After 2.5 years, the Port of Auckland has finished the northern berth deepening project at the Fergusson Container Terminal. The port is now capable of serving two large ships simultaneously.

Port of Oakland Reopens After 24-hour Shutdown – The Port of Oakland dock workers ceased operations at all terminals for 24-hours on Wednesday, July 17th in remembrance of a fellow worker who passed the day before. Standing down for 24-hours after a member dies on the job has been a longshoremen tradition since the 1930’s. Though all terminals are now open, the closure did cause some delays at the port.

Port of Southampton New Container Terminal – The Associated British Ports and the European Investment Bank (EIB) is investing £70 million in the development of a new container terminal at the Port of Southampton. The funds will be used to deepen and widen the channel to the container terminal, upgrading of berths and installing of gantry cranes.

Mexico to Invest $100 billion in Transportation – The Mexican government has announced plans to invest $100 billion in transportation services over the next five years. This includes rail, road, telecom, and port projects. President Enrique Pena Nieto also plans on reviving passenger train services.
