Deal Made to Finish Panama Canal – After a two-week stoppage, the Panama Canal Port Authority has finally made a deal with the Spanish-led consortium working on the expansion. Under the deal, the consortium and the authority would each inject $100 million for immediate cash flow needs to fully resume work. However, the agreement is under review and still needs to be signed.

Japan May Lift Arms Export Ban – The decades-old ban on weapons exports is under review and may be reversed. Under new guidelines, arms exports would be approved under “rigorous review”. The guidelines would also restrict the ban of exports to countries involved in international conflicts.

Angola’s New Customs Tariffs – Angola is implementing new customs tariffs that will be in force as of March 1st. The new tariffs are intended to encourage local production by creating conditions to attract those companies that export most to Angola and turn them into national investors.
