Debris Removal

Debris removal is a delivery or logistics service that involves removing packaging materials, pallets, crates, wrapping, cartons, or other leftover materials after goods are delivered or installed. It is common in white glove delivery, furniture delivery, appliance delivery, trade show logistics, and final-mile services. Standard freight delivery usually does not include debris removal unless it is specifically requested or included in the service level. The fee covers extra labor, cleanup time, disposal, recycling, and handling of leftover materials.

Debris Removal coverage in cargo insurance pays for the cost of removing wreckage or cargo debris after a covered loss event such as a vessel grounding, container overboard, or transportation accident. Without this coverage, debris removal costs are an additional out-of-pocket expense.

  • May be required by law or port authorities after a maritime casualty
  • Costs can be substantial, especially for overboard containers or vessel groundings
  • Covered under most comprehensive all-risk marine insurance policies
  • Confirm inclusion with your insurance broker when setting up cargo coverage
