Delivery Order

A delivery order, or D/O, is a document or electronic instruction that authorises the release of cargo to the correct consignee, trucker, warehouse, or authorised party. It is commonly issued by a carrier, freight forwarder, NVOCC, or agent after required conditions are met, such as payment, customs clearance, or presentation of shipping documents. In logistics, the delivery order acts as permission for the terminal, depot, or warehouse to hand over the goods for final delivery or pickup.

A Delivery Order (DO) is a document issued by the freight forwarder or NVOCC authorizing the release and delivery of cargo to the consignee or their appointed trucking company. It is issued after the consignee has surrendered the original bill of lading and paid all freight charges.

  • Required before the CFS or terminal will release LCL cargo to the consignee
  • For FCL shipments, the carrier issues a terminal release notification
  • Confirms all freight charges have been settled
  • Copies must be presented to the CFS or terminal operator at cargo pickup
