Pickup Fee

A pickup fee is a charge applied when a carrier, courier, warehouse, or logistics provider collects goods from a shipper, supplier, residence, port, terminal, or storage location. In freight and ecommerce logistics, pickup fees may cover driver time, equipment use, local mileage, appointment coordination, liftgate service, or special handling at the origin. The fee is usually separate from the main transportation charge and may vary based on location, shipment size, service level, or access conditions.

A pickup fee is charged by a carrier or freight forwarder for collecting cargo from the shipper’s location and transporting it to the origin terminal, CFS, or port. It is a standard origin charge for door-to-port or door-to-door freight services.

  • May be included in an all-in freight quote or billed separately
  • Distance from the pickup location to the origin terminal affects the rate
  • Minimum charges apply for small pickups
  • Same as origin cartage or origin drayage depending on the context
