Dedola Global Logistics is a family-run freight forwarder founded in California in 1976, now led by the second generation with the third in the business.
An FMC-licensed NVOCC and NCBFAA member, Dedola moves ocean and air freight from Asia to the US and works as a dedicated logistics department for importers: routing, documentation, customs coordination, and shipment tracking under one team. In 2025, 99.5% of Dedola shipments cleared without a demurrage or detention charge.
Door-to-door FCL, LCL, breakbulk, and buyer’s consolidation, Asia to the US and intra-Asia. Sailings watched and rebooked before a roll ever reaches your purchase order.
Standard, expedited, consolidated, and charter air for cargo that cannot wait. Documents worked ahead of the deadline, so the fast option stays fast.
Customs and compliance, tariff-code review, cargo insurance, purchase-order management, warehousing, and supply-chain consulting. One team that asks how you trade before telling you how to ship.
We’re on a mission to deliver a logistics experience where every client feels like our only one. We treat each shipment as our top priority—aligning with your unique needs so you can enjoy frictionless shipping and stay focused on growing your business.
Dedola’s story runs from a buyer’s desk in the early 1970s to the third generation in the business today. What carried through is the point of view, not just the name on the door.
It began with John Dedola, a determined young man from Sardinia. At 18, he left the island for America with a few dollars, strong convictions, and a relentless work ethic. He took any job that paid—from selling Italian-language newspapers in Delaware to working department store floors in Michigan—learning fast and moving up.
By the early 1970s, John was married with four young children—the youngest still in diapers—when he was offered a challenge that matched his ambition: join the team managing international buying and shipping for a major U.S. retailer. He moved the family to London and quickly found himself spending more time in the air than at home, traveling across Europe and Asia to establish relationships with vendors and carriers. It was a demanding role—personally and professionally—but it offered a unique vantage point. John saw firsthand how disjointed and opaque international logistics could be, especially for buyers.

At the time, the ocean freight industry was evolving. Containerization was transforming trade, yet smaller importers were often left behind—paying inflated rates or relying on freight forwarders whose income and loyalties lay with the carriers. Around that some period, a new model was quietly gaining ground: the NVOCC. Unlike traditional forwarders, NVOCCs focus was their shipper client. They bought space from carriers, issued their own bills of lading, and were accountable for the cargo from origin to destination.
John immediately saw the opportunity. As a buyer himself, he understood what importers needed—and where the system fell short. In 1976, he brought his family to California and founded Dedola Global Logistics to do things differently: to bring transparency, accountability, and client-focused service to an industry that had long prioritized carriers over customers. The regulations were yet to be written when John charted the course for a journey that started as a one-man-show—a man on a mission.
From the beginning, the business reflected John’s values: hard work, clear communication, and respect for every client. His sons, Marc and Stephen, joined early, helping shape a company built not just to compete—but to care. As we enter our 50th year in business, that spirit is still at the heart of everything we do.

In 2025, 99.5% of Dedola shipments cleared without a demurrage or detention charge. The number comes from an internal review of 3,500 client shipments, and a shipment counts against us if it carries any charge, whoever caused it.
We hold that rate because these charges are almost always downstream of something catchable earlier: a document filed late, a chassis not booked, a rolled sailing nobody flagged. So we catch those things ahead of the deadline, not after the invoice. It is not perfection. It is reliability you can plan around, and we are glad to walk you through the method.
Dedola Global Logistics was founded in California in 1976 by John Dedola, an import manager who crossed to the forwarding side. The company marks fifty years in business in 2026.
Yes. Dedola has been family-owned and operated since 1976: the founder’s sons lead the company, and the third generation works in the business.
Brothers Marc Dedola (CEO) and Stephen Dedola (CIO) lead the company. The third generation is in the business too: Marc’s sons Eric Dedola (Director of Revenue Operations) and Ryan Dedola (Freight Strategist). Around them is a leadership team that’s been part of the family in everything but name.
Yes. Dedola is an FMC-licensed NVOCC (Org #020963), bonded under #IT1445NVO, and a member of the NCBFAA.
It means Dedola works as your logistics team without being on your payroll: one group handling routing, bookings, documentation, customs coordination, and tracking, with one rep who knows your account. You keep the buying decisions; we run the freight.
Start with one lane and one shipment. You’ll have a rate, transit plan, and document checklist back within two business days, and after it ships you can set our invoice beside your last one.
