International Roadcheck is an annual 72-hour commercial vehicle inspection and enforcement event organised by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. During the event, inspectors check trucks, buses, drivers, and motor carriers for safety and regulatory compliance. Inspections may review brakes, tyres, lights, cargo securement, hours-of-service records, driver credentials, hazardous materials, and vehicle condition. For carriers and shippers, Roadcheck can affect capacity, routing, and delivery schedules. Vehicles with critical violations are placed out of service. Hours of Service records are typically captured by an electronic logging device (ELD), which automatically records driving time from the vehicle’s engine.
- Typically held in late May or early June each year
- Inspectors check driver hours of service, vehicle mechanical condition, and cargo securement
- Trucks placed out of service cannot continue until violations are corrected
- Shippers should be aware that roadcheck week may cause delivery delays
