TSA Carriers Recommend Increases – The Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (TSA) announced recommendations for carriers to issue a series of surcharges over the next two months. They are advising their members to pass a General Rate Increase (GRI) in June and July as well as a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) in July.

US Senators Push for Commercial Drones – Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., and Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D. introduced the Commercial UAS Modernization Act as a way to spur innovation in the commercial drone industry. They hope these proposed temporary rules would avoid stifling advancement as more formal regulation from the FAA is pending. Amazon and Google are among the most vocal supporters of the legislation.

German Rail System Dealing with Strike Backlog – After a nearly one week strike, Germany’s rail system is struggling to deal with the freight backlog. Passenger schedules have mostly returned to normal; however, accumulated cargo during the strike has now put a strain on supply chains throughout central Europe. This was the eight such strike in the past 10 months. The union is still negotiating their demands but does not have any other labor actions planned.
