Customs Trade Partnership Against TerrorismChassis Updates – Many major ocean carriers will no longer be providing chassis for intermodal transportation.  Steamship lines have announced varying schedules for ceasing the 55 year old practice. This decision has raised concerns for truckers and the industry in general.  The Ocean Carrier Equipment Management Association has launched a new website to organize the various carrier announcements.

US Supply Chain Security After 9/11 – In the wake of the death of Osama bin Laden, many are examining the security changes since the September 11th attacks.  In the past decade, programs like the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) and the Importer Security Filing (10+2 / ISF) have been implemented.  These programs are designed to better target potentially dangerous shipments as well as establish and verify companies that take an active role in securing supply chains.

Shipping Container Classroom – The Waldorf School of Orange County is constructing a new addition to the school out of 32 recycled shipping containers.  Four classrooms along with several other facilities will be added to the Southern California school.

India Catching Up With China – In the coming decades India is expected to become the world’s most populous country.  India’s current population is about 130 million less than their neighbor.
