Tajikistan Closer to Joining WTO – The World Trade Organization (WTO) has approved a package delineating Tajikistan’s terms of entry. The country has agreed to undertake certain steps to further open its trade regime and accelerate its integration into the world economy. Tajikistan has also agreed to join the Information Technology Agreement and apply for membership of the Government Procurement Agreement.

Iran Imposes Temporary Ban on Luxury Good Imports – Over the last year, Iran has experienced a significant drop in oil exports which has directly affected the economy. As a result, the value of Iran’s rial currency has dropped. In order to stimulate the economy, the government has imposed a temporary ban on all imported luxury goods.

Port of Baltimore Signs MOU with Port of Tallinn – The Maryland Port Administration has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Estonian Port of Tallinn. The agreement was signed on November 7th and will facilitate joint marketing efforts, sharing of data to help forecast trade flows and the exchange of information related to training programs.
